Neotel mum on Their Pricing and Data

pricingOk before I start asking Neotel what they are going to do about their pricing on Data, I would like to show what is out there at the moment. I would just like to know how many people out there feel the same way it really sucks not getting any feedback. I know people might say well why did you sign up with a $%#@ service supplier. Well I did have good service delivery just want to know their pricing structure, going forward.

Vodacom latest press release clearly states customers will get between 17% to 60% more data for the same money! Go to this link for more info Click Here Just by the way this is all happening 1st of May 2010

MTN did drop their out of bundle rates. Which might not be great but at least they have done something to keep customers happy Click here

MWeb was the first ISP to really shake up the whole internet in this country. Their 4meg line uncapped comes in at R899 per month. They have smaller solutions and even capped packages, Click Here for more Info. All in all they are the company that started the whole internet/adsl war. If I can call it that.

Vox/@Lantic also joined in the party and started offering adsl at lower rates. Here is what they had to say, Click Here I know they also offer various packages and solutions! But their pricing is really competitive.

Afrihost also joined the lower the price party and it seems they are all making the internet more and more affordable, Click here for more

Telkom have also said they are looking at certain things and packages, Click Here for more info

I could go on and on about all the ISP in the country big and small that have done some serious price adjustments. They are making the internet more affordable to everyone out there. Now my question is where is Neotel? I have written them an email or two asking for some clear direction all I got was nothing! I then called them today and guess what they have no idea who I need to talk to. They just gave me head office number 011 585 0000. Great customer support I might add!

So Neotel what now? Well they have currently released a press release stating how this latest price war is not sustainable. Well, I tend to agree with them in one way. However if you are totally out priced  in your market you will lose market share and will be forced to drop your price even lower to penetrate the market. This is an age old debate of gaining market share. In this press release they are talking about their service being totally different to current adsl offerings from ISP’s. Well in actual fact I try to look at price versus quality of service. If I can get the same internet in my house at half the price. I am not worried if it is adsl or wireless, I just want it.

When I was living in Potchefstroom I made use of a wireless service there, that was offered by Amobia. The reason I used them was simple there pricing was affordable (R299 for 3 Gigs 2 years ago extra Gig @ R65). When will Neotel realise that there are in the market to provide telecommunications. Whether it be fixed line or wireless then need to remain competitive, seriously guys have a real look at the overall picture. Your service is not unique as you have said, what happens if Vodacom decides to enter the Internet market aggressively? What happens when the LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) ends in November 2011 Click Here for more info. Will you as Neotel sit back and let it happen?

  • About time this happen here in good old SA – we really need this to become competitive in the international arena. Thanks for the heads up – some more to ponder on before the change.
